Thomas married Helen Kinnear, daughter of David Kinnear and Katharine Smith, on 15 Apr 1780 in St Cyrus, Kincardine. (Helen Kinnear was born on 27 Aug 1758 in Morphy, St Cyrus, Kincardine.)

This marriage was recorded in the OPR as being between Thomas Blues and Jean Kinnear. However, there are no records of children of that marriage, whereas I have found 8 children of Thomas Blues and Helen Kinnear. The birth date of their first child is right for this marriage date.

So, my assumption is that the clerk made a mistake and wrote down the name of the wrong sister.

It looks likely but cannot be proved that Helen Kinnear is the daughter of David Kinnear & Katharine Smith.

A Kinnear family lives nearby in 1799 in Miltonhaven and consists of widowed Katharine Smith, widow of David Kinnear, and unmarried daughter Jane (or Jean) and Jane's 2 natural children.
